• Trouble breathing, or gums that look pale, blue or white
• Collapse, seizure, or can't stand up
• Hit by a car, a fall, or a fight wound
• Bloated, hard belly, especially in a large dog trying to vomit
• Straining to pee with nothing coming out, especially a male cat
• Ate chocolate, grapes, xylitol gum, rat poison, or a medication
• Eye injury, or an eye that's suddenly cloudy or bulging
• Heavy bleeding that doesn't stop with pressure in five minutes

Swallowed something? Call us, or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435, any hour (they charge a consultation fee). Bring the packaging with you.

Same day is fine

Call by 3 pm on a weekday and we'll see you today. A same-day sick exam is $95.

• Vomiting or diarrhea more than twice in a day
• Not eating for more than a day
• Limping, or crying when touched
• An ear or skin that's suddenly red, smelly or being scratched raw
• Drinking or peeing far more than usual
• A lump that's new or growing
• Coughing, sneezing, or discharge from the eyes or nose
